Recognise the Value

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) awarded Chartered status to 453 insurance and financial planning professionals during the first half of 2026. 258 individuals achieved Chartered Financial Planner status, while 195 professionals gained Chartered designations across the insurance profession.

While public trust and professionalism remain central to insurance and financial planning, the number of individuals working to achieve Chartered status demonstrates a broad understanding of its value as a mark of technical expertise and ethical practice.

The professional body also reports growth in 2025, with a total of 1,139 Chartered designations awarded, building on 1,127 in 2024. These figures highlight sustained engagement with the CII’s professional framework across the sector. In 2025, 477 Chartered Financial Planning titles and 662 Chartered Insurance titles were awarded, while in 2024 there were 498 Planners and 629 Insurers, demonstrating consistent growth within insurance.

Between January and June 2026, the CII awarded 195 Chartered insurance titles:

·    86 Chartered Insurers

·    53 Chartered Insurance Brokers

·    43 Chartered Insurance Practitioners

·    8 Chartered Underwriters

·    5 Chartered Risk Managers

Callum Beaton, President of the CII, said: "We are delighted to see continued growth in the number of individuals who recognise the value in Chartered status, and invest considerable time and effort in demonstrating their technical expertise, integrity and commitment to acting in clients’ best interests."

Kate Gannon, Vice President of the Personal Finance Society, said: "For financial planners, Chartered status is a clear signal of professionalism. It demonstrates that individuals are investing in their knowledge, maintaining their competence and upholding the standards that help people make confident decisions about their financial futures."

Chartered status

Chartered status is a symbol of commitment to professional standards and demonstrates to consumers, employers and peers that an individual is at the forefront of their profession and put ongoing professional development and trust at the heart of everything they do.

Through its Chartered titles, qualifications, Code of Ethics and continuing professional development requirements, the CII continues to support a professional community focused on raising standards, sharing expertise and strengthening public confidence in insurance and financial planning.
