Logistics UK, one of the UK's biggest business groups and only trade body representing the whole of logistics, has strengthened its member representation in Northern Ireland with the appointment of Brenda Maguire as its Northern Ireland Policy Lead, who will be operating out of Logistics UK's Belfast office.

With over 16 years' experience working in policy and campaigning roles, Maguire brings a strong track record of representing major organisations and industries across Northern Ireland. Her career has seen her act as a positive and proactive voice for large health charities, retail and hospitality businesses and the banking sector. In her new role, Maguire will lead Logistics UK's policy activity in Northern Ireland, working closely with members, political stakeholders and industry partners to champion the priorities of the logistics sector.

Maguire said: "I'm excited to be joining Logistics UK at an important time for Northern Ireland. Logistics underpins every part of the economy, and as we navigate the post-Brexit environment, global uncertainty and move towards a greener economy, an efficient logistics sector is critical for economic prosperity and supply chain stability.

"I look forward to working with our members across Northern Ireland to understand their priorities, represent their interests and help ensure the sector can continue to operate safely, efficiently and sustainably in our unique trading position."

"We are delighted to welcome Brenda on board at such a critical time for Northern Ireland's economy," said Logistics UK's Chief Executive Ben Fletcher. "Northern Ireland has a unique and important role within the UK supply chain, and it is vital that the logistics sector has a strong voice as policy continues to evolve. Brenda's appointment will strengthen our ability to champion the sector, support our members and highlight the essential role logistics plays in driving economic success."

Logistics UK is one of the UK's biggest business groups, representing logistics businesses which are vital to keeping the UK trading, and more than seven million people directly employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With decarbonisation, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc. Logistics UK supports, shapes and stands up for safe and efficient logistics, and is the only business group which represents the whole industry, with members from the road, rail, water and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers whose businesses depend on the efficient movement of goods.
