SITA launches SITA eWAS+, bringing weather and operational data into one app, with fuel-saving recommendations for SITA OptiFlight® customers
Pilots can make more confident decisions to stay ahead of changing conditions with SITA eWAS+, a new electronic flight bag (EFB) app that pairs weather and operational data for a full picture for every phase of flight. It builds on SITA eWAS, used by more than 40,000 pilots at more than 60 airlines for more than 12 years.
With weather and operational information in a single app, pilots can make faster, more informed decisions at critical moments, such as whether to change altitude to avoid clear-air turbulence, which onboard weather radar cannot detect. Pilots see the information that matters, where and when it matters, rather than having to interpret raw data from separate systems.
"Pilots have access to more data than ever before, but the time they have to make decisions in the cockpit hasn't changed," said Albert Dominguez, Head of Apps & Data at SITA for Aircraft. "Pilots will always make the call, but technology needs to keep evolving to support them with the most crucial information. SITA eWAS+ is shaped by feedback from the airlines and pilots we work alongside, and we will keep developing it around the way they fly."
SITA eWAS+ aggregates data from more than 10 certified weather providers and more than 40 weather products, including but not limited to [BS1] turbulence, winds, icing and lightning, and combines it with trajectory, airspace and airport information on both a map and a vertical profile. Its 4D operational awareness shows how conditions will develop at each point of the route by the time the aircraft gets there.
Pilots at airlines that also use SITA OptiFlight®, SITA's full-flight optimization solution, can weigh its fuel-saving recommendations against the conditions ahead. SITA OptiFlight suggests adjustments to the flight profile to reduce fuel burn and emissions. Because SITA eWAS+[BS2] presents each recommendation alongside relevant weather and operational information, pilots have everything they need to assess and act on it across climb, cruise and descent.
SITA eWAS+ offers the same features and support on iPadOS and Windows and is available through airlines' private enterprise app stores or the public App Store.

About SITA
SITA is the air transport industry's tech engine, making travel safer, easier, and more sustainable for everyone. From the earliest days of commercial aviation to today's digital frontiers, SITA has been there, connecting the industry and helping it evolve through every leap forward.
With around 2,500 customers, SITA technology supports over 1,000 airports and more than 19,600 aircraft worldwide. It also helps over 70 governments strike the balance between secure borders and seamless journeys. Behind the scenes, SITA bridges 45–50% of the industry's data exchange, enabling a highly complex global network to operate smoothly and reliably, every step of the way.
SITA is transforming fast. From advanced self-service and operations control to airport design and digital borders, it is shaping the next generation of travel through key acquisitions like Materna IPS, ASISTIM, and CCM. It is also expanding beyond aviation with initiatives such as SmartSea, bringing its trusted technologies to cruise, rail, and urban air mobility.
This transformation is about more than new products. SITA is investing in the right skills, tools, and partnerships to help the industry move with greater intelligence and agility, bringing together smart systems, seamless data, and sustainable innovation. Because as global travel surges, flow is everything.
As part of our bold climate strategy, SITA is cutting emissions by 4.2% each year and targeting net zero by 2050. SITA's science-based targets are validated by the SBTi, and its growing portfolio is helping customers reduce their own carbon footprints too.
