Breakfast Huffkin

The Salty Dog Harbour Café

A fantastic little café in the old clocktower, Dover Marina

Stopping for a coffee after a brisk morning walk is a must BUT stopping for a coffee and a breakfast huffkin at the superb Salty Dog Harbour Café, is even better!

With colourful seating outside and a busy eclectic feel inside, the café was oozing with yummy eats and enticing aromas.

Although the café was justifiably busy, the service was welcoming, helpful and speedy. As a first-time customer I wasn’t made to feel rushed and menu options were explained to me. Making a decision about what to eat did not take long at all. My mind was made up as plates of enticing looking food passed before me on the way to the tables of other diners. Two breakfast filled huffkins (I will explain the huffkin part shortly) an americano and an iced vanilla latte were quickly ordered. The iced latte was not on the menu but the hosts were perfectly accommodating and granted my son’s iced latte wish.

We sat outside as the café was fit to bursting inside. Dog walkers, young families and laptop yielding patrons occupied all available inside spaces. The atmosphere was spot on! Families chatting, people reading, couples catching up.

Not long after taking our seats outside our scrumptious breakfast huffkins arrived. Cooked perfectly and very welcome after a brisk walk.

I walked away from the Salty Dog Harbour Café feeling like the cat who got the cream, or a walker who had just had a delicious breakfast, a spot-on coffee (which let’s face it, is a rarity) and an education on what a huffkin is!

If you are visiting the Dover area, a trip to the Salty Dog Harbour Café is a must! Free parking in the adjacent car park (with registration entry in the café) is also included with a minimum spend.
