From Arizona to Japan, these are the places helping travellers truly switch off this holiday season

With summer holidays fast approaching, travellers around the world are swapping packed itineraries for peace, presence, and proper rest. Now, a new global study by relaxation-focused brand Blakk Smoke has revealed the top destinations for mindful travel in 2025 – places where stress melts away and disconnection is the goal.

Using a unique Mindfulness Score – based on sentiment analysis, keyword tracking, and thousands of real traveller reviews – the research ranks the cities, islands and landscapes that best deliver calm, clarity, and wellbeing.

Think: energy vortex hikes in Arizona, Alpine stillness in Slovenia, and coastal serenity in Cornwall.

The Top 10 Most Mindful Travel Destinations of 2025

Each destination was scored out of 100 based on how often travellers described it using words like “peaceful”, “relaxing” and “mindful” – and the presence of wellness-based activities like yoga retreats, spas and nature escapes.

1: Sedona, Arizona - USA   = Energy vortexes, red rock trails, spiritual retreats

2: Lake Bled Slovenia = Mirror-still water, mountain air, island chapel views

3: Lake DIstrict. England = Windermere walks, hilltop journalling, total stillness

5:Santorini, Greece = Slow sunsets, whitewashed calm, cliffside yoga

6:Scottish Highlands, Scotland = Vast solitude, misty hikes, digital detox vibes

7:Asheville, NC, USA = Blue Ridge trails, spa breaks, artsy downtime

8: Amalfi Coast, Italy = Lemon groves, sea views, the art of doing nothing

9: Cornwall, England Secret beaches, cottage core escapes, wild swims

10: Kyoto, Japan = Zen gardens, quiet temples, mindful rituals

How the Score Was Built

Blakk Smoke analysed thousands of TripAdvisor reviews from the last three years, applying natural language processing (NLP) and emotional sentiment analysis to identify:

Keywords: Frequency of “relaxing”, “peaceful”, “mindful”, “calm”.

Tone: Positivity levels in reviews mentioning tranquillity or wellbeing.

Activity Index: Mentions of retreats, meditation centres, spas, and nature-based attractions.

Only recent reviews were included to reflect today’s traveller needs – think post-pandemic priorities, burnout recovery, and a growing desire to actually rest on holiday.

Why Mindful Travel is Trending in 2025

Mindful travel isn’t just a buzzword – it’s a response to real burnout. With always-on jobs, screen fatigue, and non-stop city living, more travellers are prioritising peace over pressure.

Whether it’s a forest escape with no Wi-Fi, a retreat focused on breathwork, or just a solo trip somewhere scenic – people are actively choosing destinations that slow them down, not speed them up.
